O Pink Floyd é, sem dúvidas, uma das maiores e melhores bandas de todos os tempos. Caracterizados pelas incriveis composições inovadoras, pelo estilo progressivo e pelos seus grandes espetáculos ao vivo.
A banda foi fundada na segunda metade da década de 60 por Syd Barret, ele líder as composições do grupo, foi o principal responsável, pelo psicodélico The Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Porém seus problemas com drogas levaram a seus afastamento do grupo e no seu lugar foi recrutado seu antigo professor de guitarra, o guitarrista e cantor David Gilmour.
Com o tempo, o baixista Roger Waters, se tornou o principal compositor da banda e então líder. Caracterizada como a era dos albuns conceituais da banda, como Atom Mother Heart, Meddle, The Dark Side On The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals e The Wall. Em meio a essa era de comando de Waters o grupo sofre muita tensão e inclusive a demissão do Richard Wright, feita por Roger Waters, na época ele dizia ter o apoio dos outros integrantes, embora em uma recente entrevista Gilmour nege ter sido favorável a demissão de Wright, evidenciando a total "ditadura" dentro do grupo.
Após o album de The Final Cut em 1983 o grupo se separa, e Waters, declara que o grupo tinha chegado ao seus final. Em 1985, os outros integrantes decidem retomar o Pink Floyd, agora liderados por Gilmour, eles voltam com o nome original, e depois de longa briga judicial, chegam a um acordo com Waters.
Na era Gilmour banda lança dois albuns de inéditas, entre eles um dos melhores do grupo The Division Bell, além do album ao vivo Pulse de 1994, com mais um bélissimo espetáculo.
A banda se separa no mesmo ano e volta se reunir com sua formação mais clássica no Live 8.
Em 2008, morre o tecladista Richard Wright, pondo fim na esperança de uma nova reunião da banda.
